PETITION TO END WESTERN SAHARA OCCUPATION Morocco colonized Western Sahara in 1975. Since then Sahara has been struggling for self-determination. The UN and the AU agreed on a Settlement plan to end the occupation of Western Sahara. This plan has never been implemented despite numerous negotiations and activism to free the people of Western Sahara.  The people of Western Sahara have suffered extensive human rights violations, live as refugees and IDPs, and are denied basic dignity. Women and children bear the brunt of these inhumane conditions. The consequences of continued occupation will result in a failure to attain the SDGs and the noble goals of Agenda 2063. The continued lack of urgency to address the plight of the people of Western Sahara is an affront to the liberation of all on the continent. This petition seeks to bring to the UN, AU and the government of the Republic of Morocco African women’s voices to without further delay end the occupation of Western Sahara.
